The first step to start Polish-American cooperation in the development of biotechnology has just been completed. This is the conclusion of CeBioForum in New York, which was held on November 16. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency was the patron of the event. The first American edition of CE BioForum took place in New York on November 16. It was attended by American investors involved in innovative projects in the healthcare sector, scientists. A large group consisted of specialists of Polish origin, implementing research and development projects, as well as representatives of American biotechnology companies with experience in creating and implementing new
– This is a very interesting platform for a meeting between American investors who have quite extensive experience in financing research and development in the field of biotechnology with Polish industrialists and inventories –said professor Aleksander Nawrat, Deputy Director of the National Centre for Research and Development. – We hope that this initiative will develop and that interesting biomedical technologies will appear on the Polish
market. CEBioForum in New York was held to encourage foreign investors to start innovative projects in Poland.
– This is the beginning of an initiative whose aim is to bring about systematic business cooperation between Central Europe, mainly between Poland and the USA in this sector – adds Professor Tadeusz Pietrucha, the originator of the CEBioForum scientific and business event organized in Poland since 2000. Professor Tadeusz Pietrucha began a pioneering mission to create a strategic technology bridge (Polish- American Biotech Bridge) with American representatives of innovative biobusiness. The Polish-American biotechnological bridge is intended to stimulate dynamic development of this sector in Poland.
CEBioForum has already had an 18-year tradition in Poland. This year the organizers: Bio- Tech Consulting and 8B Team are taking this initiative beyond the borders of the European Union. The event will be organized alternately in Poland and the USA. In 2019 CEBioForum is to be held in Boston. There the organizers will present the most interesting innovative projects of Polish companies and start-ups of the innovative sector of Life-science. Earlier, in May, there will be a Polish edition of the event.
– This event aims to create this second bridge span, this time at the side of the US. It is to be a platform for stimulating mutual cooperation – explains professor Pietrucha. – As PAIH we are very pleased that this event took place. We learned a lot about the potential of Polish laboratories, scientists and funds that are available in Poland for foreign investors. We hope that this will result in cooperation between Polish and American
companies – says Ewa Bindek, Office Manager of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in New York.
Why the Americans should be interested in investing in a country on the other side of the ocean? First of all, such operations in Poland are much cheaper. This creates very good conditions for the development of the bio-tech industry and the implementation of modern technologies. – Both parties will benefit from the cooperation. In Poland we have a relatively modern infrastructure, qualified staff who are able to carry out start-up projects at an American pace with good management, the possibility of obtaining grants to co-finance the riskiest initial stages of the development of an innovative biotechnological project – explains prof. Tadeusz Pietrucha. The development of innovative enterprises and attracting foreign investors is one of the basic assumptions of the Strategy for Responsible Development of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The Polish government has set itself the task of creating friendly conditions for the creation of new companies. All this gives a very favorable climate and hope for a positive effect of the meeting and, as a result, the launch of Polish-American biotechnological projects in our country.
